STEM websites for teachers

Many school districts are moving middle and high schools towards a STEM model to prepare students for the future.  STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math.  This interdisciplinary problem-based inquiry learning can be confusing for parents, students, and educators who have never faced it before.  I would like to share some websites that can give additional information about this topic.

A fantastic new resource!

Oh boy, am I in trouble.  I came across a new resource and have been downloading things all weekend!  I came across a great website, Teacher's Notebook.  This is a website where teachers post their creations and other teachers can download them for free or a small price.  Now, I'm all about the free items.  Let me tell you, I have spent all weekend downloading the free items only and I haven't scratched the surface!  This has also been a fantastic way to find new blogs by educators.  It has really reignited my excitement for teaching.  So head on over there and take a look.

Summer is coming!

With the end of the school year quickly approaching, parents are asking "What can we do with the kids over the summer to keep their skills up?"  Scholastic has some great ideas for activities on their website.  Just click on:

 http://www.scholastic.com/browse/collection.jsp?id=98

and you will find a collection of activities to enjoy over the summer.  Do you know of other websites with activities?

Making charts

I recently used a chart-making website to make charts using data on a student.  It was great!  I went to http://www.interventioncentral.com/ and used their ChartMaker to create charts and reports.  Then I was able to download the charts I created in a pdf file.  So the next time you need to make a chart, head on over and use the one at Intervention Central!
